The INhouse Trainer

Topic 01: Introduction to G.M.P.

This topic is intended to introduce the employee to the basic concepts of Good Manufacturing Practice. The trainee is made familiar with the concepts through the use comparisons with everyday experiences, and the use of simple examples.

The material covers the subject under the headings of:-

What is G.M.P?

- our own expectations.

- our customer's expectations.

- our company expectations.

- people, premises and products!

Principles of GMP

-five basic principles of GMP

• Cleanliness -personal hygiene and sanitation.

• Following Procedures - sticking to operating procedures.

• Quality takes Time - we have to allow time for testing.

• Record Keeping - why it is needed.

• GMP is for Everyone - explains that everyone is involved and leads on to…

The GMP Team

GMP and the team approach.

- why everything matters.

- why everyone matters.

- do we take it seriously?

- what happens if we don't ?

- what happens if we do ?

GMP must be shown to be a reflection of Quality into the manufacturing environment. In order to establish the importance of the "GMP-Quality link", the relevance of this link must first be shown. This is achieved through the use of an exercise in identifying customer expectations.

Process

The session then considers some of the principles of GMP - hygiene, following procedures, testing and record keeping as a means of providing a link to further Core Topics. The importance of the involvement of everyone is then shown and, the team approach emphasised. Finally, the participant is encouraged to make GMP a habit.
